I was walking around some art galleries and came across a Dutch clothes designer, who now lives and designs in Paris. I visited his website and was bombarded with this song. Will make you want to shake your tush! http://johanneriss.com/spip.php?page=popup_radio
motivation to workout
I told myself I would wake up this morning and give myself an awesome workout. I got up, but was so NOT motivated. At that moment I wanted a personal trainer. I wanted someone to tell me what to do and how many reps. So I thought, "how about I watch my videos!" I know it may sound weird, but I did it, and I totally got my workout on! Thank you Sweat With Lauren Hefez. I sometimes take it for granted that I workout for a living. Going to the gym is my job. I forget what it is like to workout on your own and to motivate yourself. It's not easy, and making it part of your daily routine takes work. So I commend you. Keep it up!
I started with the Best arm workout, into the 5 minute abs series
then came the butt workout
and I completed my workout with how to get a beautiful back and my own quick plank series.
After watching the videos I have been inspired to create more butt/abs/ and arm series when I get home. Those of you who take my classes are used to a more fast paced series, so I am thinking of doing more of those. If you have any other requests please let me know. I hope my videos can continue to inspire you to workout, get your juices pumping, and take you out of your " I don't feel like working out" rut! Off to eat a warm baguette!
Bonjour, from Paris!
Before I left for Paris, many people told me to indulge, enjoy, and not worry about calories. This is easier said than done, but let me tell you.. today it was DONE! For breakfast my camera man and I took a stroll to find some fresh baked baguettes. We came across a cute bakery and bought "une baguette, et une croissant...merci!" We then walked across the street to a cheese shop. It was stinky...really stinky. But we sucked it up and randomly ordered from the many cheeses. We went back to our apartment and together ate the baguette and cheese, it was delicious!! The baguette was still a bit warm. I can not remember the last time I ate bread like that, but it was wonderful. OK... so maybe I did add some fresh sliced tomatoes to our breakfast!
The day continued and we walked ALOT! Check out our route here...http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5185358 8.5 miles, not counting running in and out of stores!
We met up with my mom's best friend's niece, she lives right outside Paris. She was the cutest thing ever. LOVED her, and I think we would be great friends if she lived closer. We went to a cafe, and I ordered my salad with "vinaigrette sur le côté". She smiled and said she doesn't know anyone that does that. I was surprised since I always get dressing on the side, and this is a simple thing I always try to tell people as an easy way to "save a few calories". This is actually the one phrase in french I made sure to learn! My food came, and my dressing was NOT on the side. Normally I would have sent it back, but today I embraced it. The difference being, it was NOT a creamy dressing, and my salad was NOT drenched.
We obviously had dessert..nutulla and banana crepes! Split three ways.
C'est finit!
Looking forward to day 2. I plan to wake up a little early to do some strength exercises. I brought a band and some velcro hand weights. Thanks Kerri!. Have you ever been to Paris? What is your favorite thing to eat here?
cauliflower and spinach soup... SOUPer easy!
Thanks to my client for sharing this easy to make recipe with me. She got it from her mom who got it from Boston.com! It's filling, yummy, and makes you look like you can cook! I tweaked it a little and left out the butter. Still tasted wonderful.
Ingredients:
- 1 medium size cauliflower head (pulled into pieces)
- 1 bag of spinach
- EVOO (to coat the pan and cook the spinach)
- 3 cups of vegetable broth (you can add more or less depending on your preference)
- seasonings: salt, pepper, anything else...
Directions:
- place a soup pan on medium heat and add EVOO let it heat a little then add bag of spinach. Cook until wilted. Add salt and pepper.
- toss in pieces of cauliflower, mix a little
- add in vegetable broth and bring to a boil
- lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes, mixing occasionally

Try to stick a fork though the cauliflower. If it pierces easily then you are ready for your next step!
Let the soup cool off a little then puree. Food processor or blender, both work! Mix until smooth. I left some chunks of cauliflower. I thought it added a nice surprise. Sorry, no final product picture. But it pretty much turns green and smooth :) enjoy.
One more thing, if you think the soup is too thick when you are done, you can add water to it. Just a little goes a long way.
Reebok photo shoot
I just got back from a Jukari Fit to Fly and Fit to Flex Reebok photo shoot in Toronto, Canada. I did not really get to explore much of the city, but what I saw during the ride from the hotel, to the set , and back to the hotel, looked very promising. A lot of character and charm in the restaurants and the little shops we passed.
This was my frist professional photo shoot. I have done video footage before, but still shots are much different. It was a full two days of shooting at Kingwest Fitness. There were 6 girls on the shoot. Two girls from Canada, three from NYC, and then me from Boston, baby! We had an amazing crew of people; Reebok and cirque marketing , art directors, photographers, stylists, makeup artists and we can not forget craft services. The food was always delicious and healthy. My favorite was the banana chocolate muffins... YUM! Together everyone created such an amazing atmosphere . The hours flew. Not to say we did not work hard, but it was a fun experience all the way through.
The wardrobe/fitting part was great as we got a sneak peek at what Reebok is bringing us for next season. I can not say much, nor can I share pictures of the clothes or shoes, but I will say I "oooo"ed and "ahhhh"ed a lot.
The hardest part of the shoot was having to hold crazy poses that not only took balance but a lot strength. There were usually 3-4 girls in each shot and getting everyone together and looking good was a fun challenge. There was one time where I thought I was going to lose my lunch. But I held it in and we moved on :) We were often spritzed with fake sweat made of glycerin and rose water, but there were definitely times where the fake stuff was not needed. We were working hard, and today I am sore in all the right places!
On set. Fit to Fly
One last thing, I LOVE REEBOK sneakers.. and no they did not pay me to say that. They have really developed their product and have slowly become my favorite go to sneaker. I was really sad when I could no longer find my favorite Nike shoe, but honestly, I am even more pleased with the Reebok shoes. They have great color combinations and are really comfortable. When I find my top Reebok sneaker I will be sure to post and keep you updated.
I am hopeful that the future will bring me more experiences and opportunities like this one. Thank you Reebok and Cirque, my first photo shoot experience was amazing.
